This is an Auckland based hybrid role.

Working at velocity with strong business acumen, you will partner with product, engineering, marketing, and senior leadership to identify opportunities, solve complex problems, and prioritise high-impact work.

Requirements

You will sit within Serko’s centralised Data Science & Analytics team, helping to foster a culture of data excellence and innovation.

What you'll be doing

  • High-Impact Analysis & Insights: Quickly scope, analyse, and deliver insights from
    large datasets using statistical and analytical techniques, focusing on strategic and
    operational questions that drive the greatest business value and move rapidly from
    insight to action.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Actionable Recommendations: Partner with
    stakeholders to clarify problems and requirements, then translate analysis into clear,
    prioritised recommendations with impact, options, and trade-offs for
    decision-makers across the business.
  • Data Visualisation, Storytelling & Communication: Build clear dashboards and
    reports and present findings in concise, non-technical language tailored to diverse
    audiences, ensuring insights are understood and acted upon.
  • Advanced Analytics, Models & Data Integration: Develop and maintain analytical
    and, where appropriate, predictive or ML-based models, using relevant tooling to
    efficiently extract and prepare data from multiple sources.
  • Data Quality: Proactively identify and help resolve data quality issues, promote and
    champion best data practices across the team and wider organisation.
  • Craft Leadership: Mentor and guide team members on best practices, analytical
    techniques, and effective communication strategies. Promote a culture of
    continuous learning and data excellence within the team

What you'll bring

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Significant experience (5+ years) in a data analytics role with a track record of driving tangible business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at velocity and manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong business acumen and curiosity, with the ability to quickly understand context, frame problems, focus on value-creating work, and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill technical complexity concepts for non-technical audiences and senior leaders, supported by strong data storytelling and visualisations.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python, plus experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery) and modern data tooling (e.g. Databricks, PySpark or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with statistical analysis and, ideally, basic machine learning techniques, alongside understanding of data quality, data governance, and data protection principles.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar) or equivalent practical experience.
