Auckland, New Zealand. 6th June 2016 – Serko Ltd. (SKO.NZ) A leader in online travel booking and expense management announced that Flight Centre, operating under its Corporate Traveller and Flight Centre Business Travel brands, will complete the line up of Travel Experts powering Serko’s new online travel management app for SMEs, serko.travel, which will launch in July in partnership with XERO.
The new app gives businesses with up to 150 employees a new way to manage every aspect of their company travel. The app will allow users to make bookings online for free and crucially, give them access to Travel Expert support via phone or email, if they have a problem during the booking process, or whilst they are travelling for business.
Serko CEO Darrin Grafton said, “Flight Centre is one of the biggest players in the business with some of the best expert knowledge in supporting small and medium sized businesses and I’m thrilled that they have agreed to work with us on this initiative. Smaller businesses that book direct on multiple travel supplier websites waste on average 6 hours per booking and I’m 100% confident that together we can help to create a more efficient and streamlined travel management experience for SMEs initially in Australasia, but ultimately world-wide.”
Flight Centre COO, Melanie Waters-Ryan said “We are excited to be part of an industry-changing initiative and we think there’s great potential in the app within the unmanaged section of the market. By leveraging our Corporate Traveller brand and our Flight Centre Business Travel brand, we hope to attract a broad cross-section of SMEs to select us as their Travel Expert”
The new app gives users the ability to select from one of three Travel Experts in each country. Serko announced Helloworld for business on the 5th July to complete the line up. Unlike traditional managed travel programs offered by corporate travel agencies, ‘expert services’ consumed through the serko.travel app are charged for on a ‘pay as you use’ basis, giving users the best of both the online and offline worlds.
Today, SMEs are estimated to spend more than $15 billion on travel with around 66% of bookings made direct with airline and hotel providers. serko.travel brings the travel suppliers that SMEs value together in one place helping them to save time, hassle and money and driving a revolution in the way small businesses manage their travel.
