The new app gives businesses with up to 150 employees a new way to mange every aspect of their company travel. The app will allow users to make bookings online for free and crucially, give them access to Travel Expert support via phone or email, if they have a problem during the booking process, or whilst they are travelling for business.
Serko CEO Darrin Grafton said, “Flight Centre is one of the biggest players in the business with some of the best expert knowledge in supporting small and medium sized businesses and I’m thrilled that they have agreed to work with us on this initiative.”
Flight Centre COO, Melanie Waters-Ryansaid “We are excited to be part of an industry-changing initiative and we think there’s great potential in the app within the unmanaged section of the market. By leveraging our Corporate Traveller brand and our Flight Centre Business Travel brand, we hope to attract a broad cross-section of SMEs to select us as their Travel Expert”
Today, SMEs are estimated to spend more than $15 billion on travel with around 66% of bookings made direct with airline and hotel providers. serko.travel brings the travel suppliers that SMEs value together in one place helping them to save time, hassle and money and driving a revolution in the way small businesses manage their travel.
serko.travel is a major new strategic product initiative for Serko and was a key component of the rationale behind the successful $8.1m capital raise completed between December 2015 and February 2016. Serko has not provided any market guidance concerning the potential contribution to FY17 revenues by serko.travel but will provide an update on progress at the Annual Shareholder Meeting to be held on 23 August 2016.
